The Bovine Identification Guarantee Protocol aims to establish rules and procedures to support the issuance of official Brazilian certification, when individual characteristics of the animals are required, regardless of the importing market. With the publication of Normative Instruction No. 51 on October 8, 2018, which updated SISBOV procedures and replaced IN 17 of 2006, the entry of identified animals into a Rural Establishment Approved in SISBOV (ERAS) can only occur from another ERAS property. Otherwise, the animals must be re-identified, restarting the count of all deadlines, and preventing the Hilton Quota from being met by these animals.

The Bovine Identification Guarantee Protocol is an alternative for livestock farmers and aims to offer MAPA guarantees that participating properties are complying with established rules and have correctly identified their animals. This allows animals from these properties to maintain their traceability when entering ERAS properties, guaranteeing the identification age of the animals.

To supply animals to ERAS properties, certified according to the rules of IN 51, the livestock farmer must adhere to the Bobine Identification Guarantee Protocol and inform which certifier will be responsible for entering their information into the National Database (BND). In this way, the Protocol offers a simplified and lower-cost way for livestock farmers to comply with established rules and maintain the traceability of their animals.
